Three Sonatinas is dedicated to Mona Rejino’s friends and colleagues in the Carrollton Music Teachers Association in Carrollton, Texas, of which she is charter member.

Three Sonatinas for Piano Solo is for the emerging Late Elementary piano student. Each sonatina contains three movements. The first movements are in sonata-allegro form. The second movements encourage lyrical, expressive playing. The third movements are spirited showstoppers and fun to play.

Although these 21st century sonatinas have a modern sound, they are based on a form of composition that has existed for centuries. I encourage you to let the titles be your guide for interpreting each work. Play each movement with conviction and expression, and above all, have fun making these your own!
